Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Interstrata. We've kept this readable — no walls of impenetrable legalese.
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the Interstrata service ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Service description
Interstrata is an accountability layer for AI workflows. The Service allows you to: import AI conversation exports and agent logs, extract structured insights (decisions, commitments, events) from imported content, view and search a continuity timeline of your AI work, generate accountability reports, incident binders, and other outputs, and configure custody, recovery, and trust settings for your data.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We continuously improve the Service and may add, modify, or remove features with reasonable notice.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials, recovery materials, and custody keys. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We are not liable for loss or damage resulting from unauthorized account access due to your failure to secure credentials.
4. Your data
Ownership
You retain all ownership rights to content you import into the Service. Interstrata does not claim ownership of your data. Extracted artifacts (decisions, commitments, events) derived from your content are also yours.
License to us
You grant Interstrata a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service: parsing, extracting, indexing, and presenting your data to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.
Custody
Your data is encrypted according to your chosen custody profile (see Privacy Policy). Under Profiles A and B, Interstrata cannot access your plaintext content. You are responsible for maintaining your recovery materials.
Portability
You can export your data at any time through the application's export feature. Export bundles include your content, extracted artifacts, and trust receipts in a portable format.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service to store or process illegal content, attempt to circumvent security measures or access other users' data, reverse engineer the Service (except where permitted by applicable law), use the Service for competitive intelligence about Interstrata, use automated systems to access the Service beyond documented APIs, or import content you don't have the right to process.
We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice when possible.
6. Intellectual property
The Interstrata service, including its software, design, documentation, and branding, is owned by Interstrata and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. The extraction algorithms, continuity ontology, and trust receipt formats are proprietary. Your use of the Service does not grant you rights to our intellectual property beyond the license to use the Service.
7. Payment & billing
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice. You can cancel at any time; access continues through the end of your billing period. Refunds are provided at our discretion for billing errors or service outages exceeding our SLA commitments. We may change pricing for new subscriptions at any time. Existing subscriptions are protected for at least one billing cycle after notice.
8. Service availability
We target 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We will provide reasonable notice of planned maintenance. In the event of extended outages, affected paid users will receive proportional credits. Our system status is available at the status indicator in the application footer.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Interstrata's total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data (except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct), lost profits, or business interruption.
Under Profile A (self-custody), we are not liable for data loss resulting from lost encryption keys or recovery materials, as we do not have access to your decryption keys.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Interstrata against claims arising from: your violation of these Terms, your use of the Service, content you import into the Service, or your violation of any third party's rights.
11. Termination
You can terminate your account at any time through the application settings. Upon termination, you can export your data for 30 days, after which content is deleted per our retention policy. Trust receipts may be retained in redacted form where legally required. We may terminate your account for material breach of these Terms, with notice when possible. We will provide reasonable opportunity to export data before termination except in cases of fraud or illegal activity.
12. Dispute resolution
We prefer to resolve disputes informally. Contact us first at legal@interstrata.ai and we'll work to resolve the issue within 30 days. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in English. You retain the right to bring claims in small claims court. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
13. General provisions
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Interstrata regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or acquisition. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.
